Your Neighborhood School in South Philadelphia

Thomas Campus is a neighborhood school serving over 650 students and their families in 7th through 12th grade. Students enjoy a strong sense of community and belonging in a safe environment, supported by caring and committed teachers and staff who return year after year. Along with a rigorous academic program, Thomas students have opportunities for internships, athletics and a variety of after school programs in preparation for high school and postsecondary success.  Every student has a clear path after graduation-whether enrolling in a 4-year university or entering the workforce.

    • Sophomores complete an 18-week internship
    • Seniors participate in college trips, a senior seminar course, get assistance with FAFSA form completion and receive support with the college application process
    • Students graduate prepared with a plan to enter college, the workforce or a pathway of their choice

Thomas Campus offers a variety of athletic activities and clubs.  Thomas participates as members of the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) within the District XII Public League. Middle school teams play in a variety of leagues across the city.

Any student living in Philadelphia is eligible to apply for the lottery at Thomas Campus. First preference, however, is given to students living within the 19148 zip code, followed by students living within zip codes 19145, 19146, and 19147, followed by all other applicants. This is so we can serve as a neighborhood school, per our charter.

Our Team


Peter Langer, Principal

Peter Langer has served the principal at Mastery Charter Thomas in South Philadelphia since 2019. He has served as a school leader at Mastery since 2011 and prior to joining the Thomas team was a principal at Simon Gratz Mastery Charter. Before joining Mastery, Mr. Langer taught middle school math and science in School District of Philadelphia and served as a teacher coach for math and science teachers throughout Philadelphia and Camden.

A South Philly resident for the past decade, he grew up in Buffalo, New York and is a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame.  Mr. Langer moved to Philly as part of Teach For America in 2006.

Peter is thrilled to lead a school in his community and is committed to the growth and achievement of all students at Thomas.  Outside of school, Peter likes to spend time with his family, exercise and cheer on the 76ers .
