The College Initiatives Team supports Mastery’s critical mission of ensuring that all students are prepared to succeed in higher education and the global economy. Each Mastery secondary school has a full College Initiatives team, comprised of a College Advisor and an Internship Coordinator.

Through direct instruction and real-world opportunities, these school leaders help build student skill-sets, broaden their post-secondary horizons, and provide critical experiences and information needed for application and matriculation to college. The teams are data-driven to demonstrate progress towards the goal of college acceptance, matriculation, and graduation.

College Initiatives Positions

College Advisor

The College Advisor is directly responsible for the college application process as well as the successful transition to college of all students from his/her campus. This position works with students, staff, and administration to create and manage College Completion Culture, facilitate college visits and interviews, and provide financial aid/scholarship opportunities. The College Advisor is responsible for teaching all Senior Seminar courses, and for managing the Senior Project program from launch to completion.

Internship Coordinator

The Internship Coordinator is directly responsible for creating and managing all aspects of the Internship Program at his/her respective campus. S/he ensures students’ success during their internship experience through mentor accrual, mentor and student training, student placement at a site connected to college and career goals, and progress monitoring throughout the internship placement. The Internship Coordinator is responsible for teaching all Sophomore Seminar courses, and for managing the Exhibition Night project from launch to completion.
