Opportunities
Regular application deadline for 2009-2010 has passed. We are currently only
accepting applications for the remaining positions listed.
To Apply for a Position with Mastery Charter Schools
We are committed to selecting candidates who are uniquely qualified to succeed in the rigorous, entrepreneurial environment of Mastery Charter Schools. Prior to submitting your application, we ask that you download and read the attached document about our mission and impact.
While the amount of time and specific activities involved in each person’s application process varies, the following information will give you a better understanding of our staff application process to help you as you plan your job search.
Timeline
The overall process from application submission to offer tends to take four
to six weeks for most roles. The process can occasionally take longer; in
those cases, we will communicate with you frequently about the status of
your application.
Given the rigor of our process, you should submit your application as early
as possible. If your timeline for finding a position is shorter than four to
six weeks, we still encourage you to apply. If you are granted an interview,
you will have the opportunity to share your specific timeline with your
interviewer and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We recommend that you complete your online application carefully and accurately. Your resume should outline your past accomplishments and management/leadership experiences. Interview process
Initial Phone Interview
Applicants who are selected are invited to participate in an initial 20-30
minute phone interview. During this initial conversation with a member of
the Mastery Charter Recruitment Team, you will be asked to share more about
your past experiences, and to articulate your interest in and fit with the
position(s) to which you applied. Please note that if you have applied to
multiple positions, we will only consider you for the role(s) for which you
are best suited.
Finalists can expect that we will contact the references that were provided
in the online application at some time between the phone interview and the
demonstration lesson.
In-Person Interview
If your experience and skills are competitive for the position to which you
applied, you will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with a
member of our Interview Team. This interview is almost always conducted in
person, and will be held at one of our school sites. We view these
conversations as an opportunity for both you and your interviewer(s) to
determine whether the position is a strong match for your skills and
professional interests.
Demonstration Lesson
Finalists who are moved forward from the interview round will be invited to plan and execute a demonstration lesson at one of our school sites. Your demonstration lesson will occur either during or immediately following a school day. The lesson will take place in a classroom with approximately 10-25 students. You will be observed by the instructional team at the school site, and will have exactly 30 minutes to complete a full lesson cycle. At the end of the 30 minutes, you will meet with the observers and participate in a review of your lesson.
If you have applied for a position other than a teaching position, you can expect the demonstration to last for approximately half a day. You will be asked to interact with students and school staff in much the same way you would if you held the position. The time is used to gauge your fit with the role and with Mastery Charter Schools.
