We are excited to announce we have completed our first match challenge of $50,000. And equally excited to announce the we have received a second match challenge of $25,000 from The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation to help endow the Jeremy Nowak Scholarship Fund.

Jeremy Nowak was the founding board chair of Mastery Charter Schools, leading us through the start-up of our first school and the opening of our first turnaround schools.  A brilliant, passionate and independent thinker with a giant heart, Jeremy’s commitment to doing right by kids and families is deeply etched in the psyche of our organization.

Jeremy believed deeply in Mastery’s mission to deliver a public education that could open the door to college for thousands of Philadelphia students.  The Jeremy Nowak Scholarship will enable a Mastery Charter Schools graduate to attend a 4-year College or University by offering an annual $5,000 scholarship, renewable for up to four years, to a student who best embodies Jeremy’s commitment to social justice, his fiercely independent thinking, and his deep love of Philadelphia and all the people who call it home.
