Students from Mastery Charter Shoemaker Campus recently won the FIRST Tech Challenge City Robotics Championship, according to the school. Members of the winning team, all seniors, were treated to a dress-down day at their school and are facing better prospects for college scholarships, said school principal Shariff El-Mekki. FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics program for middle and high school students, who get to “experience the power, excitement and fun of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with hands-on, minds-on activities,” states the program.
